Tucked into the charm of Garden City, NY, Il GufO is a restaurant that stops you in your tracks — not just for its bold Italian flavors, but for the way it feels the moment you step inside. When I was brought in to photograph this space, the story wasn't just about food or ambiance. It was also about craftsmanship — specifically, the work of Dillmeier Glass Company, whose precision-cut glass installations elevate the restaurant’s design with clarity, elegance, and intention.
From the moment you enter Il GufO, Dillmeier’s impact is unmistakable. Their custom glass booth dividers and sleek interior glass doors don’t just serve a functional role — they frame the experience. In a dimly lit, modern space like this one, glass becomes more than a surface. It becomes a tool for sculpting light, preserving sightlines, and creating intimacy without isolation.
As a photographer, capturing glass is always a challenge — and a privilege. I was intentional about showing how these installations create subtle reflections, allow ambient light to pass through, and shape the guest’s journey through the restaurant.
Il GufO brings bold, comforting Italian dishes to life with a modern touch. Dillmeier’s clean, transparent design language provides the perfect counterbalance to the rich materials and moody lighting of the restaurant. Where the food is earthy and expressive, the glass is cool and controlled — allowing each detail of the space to breathe.
From a visual storytelling standpoint, this balance was key. I focused on wide shots that showcased the open flow of the restaurant — where booth seating feels both private and connected — and detail shots that highlight the craftsmanship of the glass itself: the polish, the hardware, the flawless joins.
Based in New York and known for their exceptional precision and quality, Dillmeier Glass Company is a trusted partner for architectural and commercial glass installations. Their work at Il GufO is a perfect example of how they blend functionality with aesthetic refinement. Whether it’s glass partitions, doors, shelving, or custom architectural features, Dillmeier delivers solutions that elevate the spaces they touch.
In this particular project, their contribution transformed the restaurant’s interior — adding openness without sacrificing warmth, and sophistication without stiffness.
This shoot wasn’t just about beautiful plates or moody interiors — it was about the synergy between craft, cuisine, and construction. Projects like this remind me that great design is never one-note. It’s the collaboration between disciplines — chefs, architects, designers, and manufacturers — that make a space truly memorable.
Il GufO and Dillmeier Glass came together to create something that’s more than the sum of its parts. And I’m proud to have captured that harmony through the lens.
Whether you're a design-build firm, a commercial glass manufacturer, or a hospitality brand, powerful photography can tell your story with clarity and depth. Let’s work together to showcase the craftsmanship behind your next project.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
